Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts
Savira Cultural & Capital Projects was engaged by the Town of Oakville to provide integrated planning and research services for the redevelopment of the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts. Between October 2017 and 2018, Savira conducted the needs assessment and market research process, business plan, and economic and community impact assessments. The multi-platform approach included facilitated vision workshops, internal and external stakeholder interviews, focus groups, surveys, market research, precedent studies and two study tour in the GTHA and Toronto. In total, over 100 stakeholders representing 70 different organizations were interviewed and engaged in the planning process, including Town staff, resident partners, rental clients, sponsors, BIAs, corporations, businesses, education institutions, and Town of Oakville organizations such as the Oakville Public Library and Oakville Galleries.
The key objective of the feasibility study was to think differently about the revitalized Oakville Centre, and to develop a long-term sustainable operating model that meets a broad range of Oakville user group needs that were identified through market research and ensure operations are fully aligned for the three new spaces — main stage, second stage, and multi-purpose event space.
The revitalized Oakville Centre will serve a broader audience and generate significant benefits for Oakville in three areas: Culture & Community, Business Development & Partnerships, and Tourism & Economic Development.
