The Globe and Mail Centre

The Globe and Mail Centre, which opened in May 2017, has already become Canada’s entrepreneurial hub for media, business innovation and leadership — a new public forum where policymakers, corporate and government leaders, celebrities and thinkers gather for discussion and debate.

From 2011 to 2017, Savira was the director of planning for the new headquarters of Canada’s leading news organization — The Globe and Mail Centre. Providing end-to-end strategic leadership to senior management for 6 years, Savira delivered the vision, concept design, market research, partnerships, economic model, business plan and operations for the new state-of-the-art conference and event centre. With panoramic views of the Toronto skyline and waterfront, the purpose-built flexible indoor and outdoor event centre accommodates 400+ guests for conferences, AGM’s, galas, product launches, media events and private celebrations.

Savira led the research and planning for the new event centre, and worked closely with management to address the rapidly changing media environment and respond to marketplace needs. The vision was to create a global platform for Canada’s most iconic and trusted brand, and to explore new ways of engaging audiences, empowering businesses and connecting communities. Partnership development was critical to the long-term viability of the centre, and Savira established an integrated planning process with Canada’s leading financial institutions and corporate partners to determine marketplace requirements and ensure long-term clients and content partners.
